New and Improved!

The Division is pleased to announce the availability of the maps in the online collection which are using a new piece of software called Zoomify. This replaces the older Mr. Sid software. It is possible to print from the images in Internet Explorer. Zoomify makes high-quality images zoom-and-pan for fast, interactive viewing on the web. It is quite similar to software used for Google Maps or Google Earth, but nothing needs to be downloaded or installed on the viewers computer. Testing in browsers such as Safari, Firefox and Chrome is ongoing. Try it and see! Update: (Currently Zoomify does not work on the iPad, but might on other tablets that can use Flash video.)

The jumping off web pages for these are:
http://www.libraryweb.org/rochimag/maps/bound.htm, and http://www.libraryweb.org/rochimag/maps/individual.htm. More images will be linked soon. Zoomify works only on the maps at this time, and not Rochester Images.
