New Digital Indexes

The Local History and Genealogy Division is pleased to announce a new section of digitized and online records, which are found on the Digital Collection drop down menu on the web site. It is entitled Rochester and Monroe County Civil Records and Indexes, and contains digitized original records and indexes to local censuses, election rolls, tax assessments and Surrogate Court records

The current URL is: http://www3.libraryweb.org/lh.aspx?id=470901.

On that web site you will find the following:

Census of the State of New York, for 1855: Monroe County Towns Index. Please note: this document currently contains names from A – McN. It is in the process of being updated. It contains all the information which was extracted from the films of that census. It is especially important since it gives the county in New York State where someone was born, and also how long they had been living in the place where they were enumerated.
